First impressions are powerful. They speak before words are ever spoken. Within seconds, perceptions are formed based on how we present ourselves, how we communicate, and how we carry our confidence. The 1st Impression was created to help middle and high school students understand that who they are becoming matters just as much as what they know.

Founded by Dr. Darion Walton and Dr. Varion Walton, Walton Inspires is rooted in lived experience. Both founders participated in speech services during elementary and high school, learning firsthand that challenges do not define potential. Today, they have spoken on platforms at the local, regional, national, and international levels, living proof that abilities, not disabilities, determine direction. Their journey fuels a deep belief: no student’s confidence, voice, or future should ever be limited by early obstacles.

The 1st Impression is a 10-week professional skills curriculum designed to equip students with the mindset, habits, and tools needed to show up prepared, poised, and purpose-driven in school, the workplace, and life. Through intentional instruction in communication, professionalism, confidence, accountability, and leadership, students learn to take ownership of the image they project and the opportunities they pursue.

The program is delivered online through Canvas and supported by an on-campus coach, ensuring students receive guidance, accountability, and encouragement throughout the experience. Students complete two modules each week, building momentum and mastery as they progress toward Week 10, where the program culminates in a competitive showcase. Each participating school will select one top student to advance, and the overall winner will receive a scholarship, recognizing excellence, growth, and leadership.
